Who is the Lhoist Group?
A lime and dolime producer for over a century, which operates in Europe and the USA.
What does Sorbacal® stand for?
Sorbacal® is a developing range of calcium-based products dedicated to the purification of flue gases. These products have been proven and have testimonials from a large number of applications.
What is Sorbacal® Minsorb?
The adsorption of dioxins, furans and heavy metals is usually left
to carbon compounds. These reagents are effective but, in certain
instances, do have the problem of flammability. Sorbacal® Minsorb has
an efficiency comparable to the best activated carbon, with the
additional benefit of being a non-flammable and non-explosive
mineral.
What does Calci-action® mean?
Calci-action® combines all the flue gas treatment
know-how and services that the Lhoist Group provides to
end-users.
Calci-action® complete solutions integrate:
o Optimum use of Sorbacal® products
o Lhoist equipment and technical support
o expertise and advice in flue gas treatment operations
What kind of technical support can Lhoist offer?
Lhoist Engineering and Lime Application (LE&LA) is the organization
in charge of running Lhoist's technical support services. Its
activities extend from consultancy and analysing projects to creating
turnkey installations for the storage, dosing and use of Sorbacal®.
LE&LA also has a complete range of testing equipment which allows
you to test and optimise the value of your solution on-site
Does Lhoist create complete flue gas treatment systems?
No, but Lhoist maintains close working relationships with
the major manufacturers of flue gas treatment equipment.
Lhoist can help you to select the most suitable solution for
your particular situation and advise you in the choice of one
or several manufacturers.
What does the expertise and advice service consist of?
Lhoist has a worldwide network of experts in flue gas treatment
with a close understanding of their markets. This means that the
company is kept abreast of the latest innovations and constantly
updates its reference database. This expertise in the field is
complemented by a strong willingness to invest in R&D. In concrete
terms, this translates into constant product adaptation to meet the
changing needs of the end-user. It also consists of mobile testing
units which allow on-site optimisation of the suggested solution, as
well as performance monitoring.
Does Lhoist deal with flue gas treatment residues?
No. Different flue gas residue treatment methods are
currently in use across Europe, depending on local
regulations. Lhoist has played a large role in developing
alternatives for the total or partial treatment of those
residues. These promising technologies will come into
operation as soon as legislation allows, always with the
most scrupulous respect for safety principles.
In practical terms, what should I do next?
Lhoist's specialists are always available. You'll find a list of addresses on the Contact page.
You can also tell them about your particular problem by e-mailing them at sorbacal@lhoist.com.
