Thanks to simulation and modelisation software, Lhoist is able to suggest how the gases mix in the duct and to estimate the drop in pressure.
This know-how aims to optimise the use of the reagent in order to minimise its consumption. With better mixing, the yield is improved since lime is better spread in the industrial duct and catches more pollutants.
To improve the flow of the mixture, Lhoist will test many parameters such as the speed of lime injection, the addition of pales or other types of obstacle in the duct in order to create turbulence, the location of the injection, the length of the injection device.
