The client is a French cement plant that produces around 1.5 million tonnes of cement annually, and has been involved in voluntary environmental action for several years (ISO 14001 certification). The atmospheric emissions from their site comply with the ELVs imposed by the European 2000/76/EC directive (10 mg of HCl / Nm3) under current conditions.
In order to anticipate future developments to its production process (combustible raw materials) in terms of the most stringent ELVs, the client contacted Lhoist with a view to improving the performance of its flue gas treatment system.
Given the specific operating conditions and its European experience in this sector, Lhoist suggested testing the injection of Sorbacal® powdered reagents upstream of the electrostatic precipitator in four existing fields.
