The brick industry in Belgium is facing a problem of SO2, SO3, and, to a lesser extent, HCl and HF emissions. The regulations at that time set two levels of SOx emissions, 500mg/Nm3 or 1,500 mg/Nm3, depending on the level of sulfur in the clay (below or above 0.12% of sulphur respectively). Due to a new standard, the level of allowable emissions would be set at 500mg/Nm3 in all cases.
In this example, the factory was equipped with a fixed bed reactor installation which, for several reasons, was not able to meet the new regulatory levels.
The customer wanted a complete solution which would allow him to meet all current and future standards.
